Our History
In 1959, a Holland resident, Ron Smeenge, had a growing passion for the community of Spring Lake. He began with a team going door to door, looking for anyone interested in reaching out to people in need. After getting no response, the team was ready to give up. But Ron wanted to visit one more home. There he met the Chittenden's -- a family with no church connections, yet they were interested. THERE WOULD BE A CHURCH!The first service was held on August 2, 1959 with one family. Against all odds, the church began to grow. When we find the radical love of Jesus and begin to dispense this love to others, we grow together in Christ.
Today
Though our facilities, programs and people have changed, we continue to be a church
-
that is rooted in the Bible
-
where people seek to be authentic and accepting of others
-
where God uses everyone to become a ministering community
-
that finds creative and relevant ways to communicate God’s love for us.
As one small expression of the church in the Tri Cities, we want to advance the kingdom of Jesus as we first seek intimacy with Him as our foundation.
The Best is Yet to Come
The best way to know our story is to know the people here.
Average, broken, struggling people who find a RADICALLY LOVING GOD, who, along with the Christ-followers here, accept us as we are, and then, seek to GROW TOGETHER IN CHRIST.
Come and be part of the story with us…
